New Moon Full Official Trailer!!! (Trailer Oficial de Luna Nueva!)

OK, I really like it, but:
*the part where Laurent attacks Bella is supposed to happen in the meadow, so, please tell me that is NOT it! The grass was all brown, and where were the flowers?
*Jake is not supposed to phase in front of her, he's supposed to come along with the rest of the pack, but I guess I'll have to wait to see the whole thing to start judging it.

Other than that, it looks really good. The eyebrow raising, I was definitely waiting for it, and therefore, laughed when it happened :P

What did you think about it?

My very 1st Giveaway!

I'm hosting my very first Giveaway to celebrate the fact that I had a great party last night! lol :P
I'm super happy, and I thought this would make
you happy!!!

The book I'll be giving away to 5 (yes 5) lucky people is
The Night Gardener By George Pelecanos, courtesy of Hachette Book Group
(open to residents of U.S. and Canada only please and no P.O. boxes, ends Tuesday, June 3oth).

Starred Review: Pelecanos (Drama City) delivers a dignified, character-driven epic that succeeds as both literary novel and page-turner. In 1985, the body of a 14-year-old girl turns up in a Washington, D.C., park, the latest in a series of murders by a killer the media dub "The Night Gardener." T.C. Cook, the aging detective on the case, works with a quiet, almost monomaniacal, focus. Also involved are two young uniformed cops, Gus Ramone, who's diligent, conscientious and unimpressed by heroics, and Dan "Doc" Holiday, an adrenaline junkie who's decidedly less straight.

Fast forward 20 years. Detective Ramone, now married with kids of his own, investigates the murder of one of his teenage son's friends. The homicide closely resembles the earlier unsolved Night Gardener murders. Holiday, now an alcoholic chauffeur and bodyguard, follows the case on his own and tracks down Cook, long retired but still obsessed with the original murders. While the three work together toward a suspenseful ending, Pelecanos emphasizes the fallacy of "solving" a murder and explores the ripple effects of violent crime on society.

xox,

Girl Power! (Marriage)

Marriage Part 1

Husband and wife are having a strong argument on their 40th anniversary.
Husband yells:
- When you die, I'll have your plaque made, so it reads like this: 'Here lays my Wife -Cold as always'.
- Ah, yeah? she replies. When you die, I'll have your plaque made, so it reads like this: 'Here lays my Husband...HARD AT LAST'

................(HE ASKED FOR IT!)...................

Marriage Part 2

A Husband (doctor) and his Wife are fighting at breakfast. The Husband gets up furious and tells her:
- 'And by the way, you're no good in bed either,' and he's off to work, banging on doors.
After a while, he realizes how rude he was and decides to try and fix things between them, so he calls her. She picks up the phone after letting it ring several times, and her husband, very irritated, asks her,
- 'Why did it take you so long to pick up the phone?'
She says:
- 'I was in bed.'
- 'In bed so early, doing what?'.-
-'LOOKING FOR A SECOND OPINION'-

......... -(YES, HE ASKED FOR THAT ONE TOO!) ............

Marriage Part 3

A man has 6 children and he's very proud of his feat. He's so proud of himself, he starts calling his wife 'Mother of 6', even though she complained about this.
One night they go to a party. The man decides he's ready to leave and he wants to know if his wife is ready to go too. He yells as loud as he can:
- Shall we go home 'Mother of 6'?
His wife, irritated by her husband's indiscretion, yells back:
- Any time, 'Father of 4'.

Marriage Part 4

A man and his wife are having problems at home and giving each other the 'silent treatment'. Suddenly the man remembers that the next day he needs his wife to wake him up at 5 am to catch a bussiness flight. Not wanting to be the one to break the silence (and LOSE), he writes her on a piece of paper:
-'Please wake me up at 5 am' and leaves it where he knew she'd find it.
On the next morning, the man wakes up to find that it's 9 am and that he's lost his flight. Furious, he was about to go and see why his wife hadn't woken him up, when he finds a sheet of paper on his bed. The paper reads:
-'It's 5 am now. Wake up.'

Today's Book: Las Crónicas de Narnia: La Travesía del Viajero Del Alba de C. S. Lewis (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader)

I know that there must be tons of reviews on this book out there, but this is a must for my Reading Challenges, so bare with me please :)

Yesterday I finished reading the fifth Narnia book, it only took me 5 days (cause it wasn't the only book I was reading).

"The Dawn Treader is the first ship Narnia has seen in centuries. King Caspian has built it for his first voyage to find the seven lords, good men whom his evil uncle Miraz banished when he usurped the throne. The journey takes Edmund, Lucy, their cousin Eustace, and Caspian to the Eastern Islands, beyond the Silver Sea, toward Aslan's country at the End of the World." narniafans.com

This book tells the story of Lucy and Edmund Pevensie going back to Narnia 1 year after having helped Caspian claim back his throne (three years have gone by in Narnia). The children have to go to their aunt and uncle's after their parents leave to America, only taking Susan with them (Peter is going to college). There they meet their cousin, Eustace, who is a really spoiled kid. At his house, the 3 children find a way to go back to Narnia, and once they're there, they must help Caspian find the Seven Lords who were friends with his father, and travel farther than anyone has dared to sail, to find Aslan's Country.

*I thought this book was: ;) GREAT!

This book was on my list for the following challenges:
*Spring Reading Thing,
*Read Your Name Challenge,
*and Once Upon a Time III Challenge.

Wanna read it? Buy it now on Amazon.

Sunday Edition #1

*Thanks to I Heart Monster for introducing me to this new book, Give up the Ghost by Megan Crewe. Check out an excerpt from Chapter One here.

*I thought this chapter was: ;) GREAT!

*Storyline: (from Megan's website)
Cass McKenna much prefers the company of ghosts over "breathers." Ghosts are uncomplicated and dependable, and they know the dirt on everybody... and Cass loves dirt. She's on a mission to expose the dirty secrets of the poseurs in her school.
But when the vice president of the student council discovers her secret, Cass's whole scheme hangs in the balance. Tim wants her to help him contact his recently deceased mother, and Cass reluctantly agrees.

As Cass becomes increasingly entwined in Tim's life, she's surprised to realize he's not so bad--and he needs help more desperately than anyone else suspects. Maybe it's time to give the living another chance...

*Release date for this book's set for September 15th.
Preorder this book on Amazon.

*******

*Things are getting quite hectic for our SGP friends (if you haven't checked out their blog yet, follow this link). They keep up updated on their journey to create the coolest film production company the world has ever seen (and I'm not just saying). One Tree Hill's actress, Hilarie Burton; writer, Nick Gray; and producer Kelly Tenney, make us feel that we're part of their crew. SGP's Street Team (of which I'm a proud member) is a place where we share thoughts on how the Crew's doing, and with the upcoming website (that is supposedly going to be up this Wednesday!), we get the chance to put our little grain of sand by helping mighty Ali, help the Crew with some details for the new site. It makes me feel (and I think it's not just me) that they really want to know what their fans are saying. They are really down to earth people, and I just can't help to laugh out loud with their awesome vlogs!
So, to them, and all of those that are on this now getting-larger-little-engine-that-could, I say BRAVO!

p.s.: check out this cool video that KT shared with us yesterday, it's really nice, and like he said "it made me think of all our friends around the world helping SGP... Take 5 minutes and listen."

Random Section
Give Up the Ghost Character Quiz

You're most like Cass!

*Cass McKenna has had it pretty tough--first her best friend turned the whole school against her, then she started seeing ghosts everywhere she looked. It's no wonder she's isolated herself from everyone but the dead. But Cass has a strong sense of morality, stubbornness to spare, and plenty of compassion for those who deserve it. When the popular kids are taking advantage of their more clueless peers, Cass isn't afraid to fight back.

Right on! Now you take this quiz.

********

*I have oficially started writing my new story, and I'm loving how it's turning out! So, I thought I'd share a bit about it with you all.

It tells the story of Alma, young/old woman/lady (she doesn't quite know), after having been kicked out of Heaven (now, I'm not a believer, no offence to those who are, but the story line just came to me and I had to make the most of it, so I decided I wasn't going to change it) for stealing innocent people's souls. She's just a carefree (person?) who "took" the souls of those whom she thought didn't deserve to live. For instance, an unfaithful husband who cheeted on his wife. She took his soul, but without permission from her boss, who constantly told her "it wasn't (his) time to go".

And that's it for today, I don't want to ruin it!

*************

p.s.: I'm still waiting for Elise's copy of "The Pillowman" to arrive, I'll write a review as soon as I finish it.

Have a great Sunday night everyone!

Today's Book: Let's All Kill Constance

I just finished reading
"Let's All Kill Constance" by Ray Bradbury, and let me tell you that I loved it. It's just the kind of book I like to read, mysterious, addictive, with a touch of black humour.

"Let's All Kill Constance" tells the story from the narrator's POV (RB himself?), in which one stormy night, aging-Hollywood actress Constance Rattigan, knocks on his door and hands him over two Death Lists, with the names of once-famous people, most of them dead, and others marked with a red circle and a cross signaling that Death is coming for them. After this, Constance mysteriously disappears, leaving this unnamed man alone to solve the riddle. He goes to his friend Elmo Crumley and asks him to help him.
The narrator and his friend begin the quest to find Constance, visiting the people from the Death Lists -who, shortly after their visit die under strange circumstances- and help her deafeat Death. Along the journey, they are joined by blind man Henry and film director, Fritz Wong.

Intriguing and disturbing, this mystery novel will make you want to read it in just one sitting.

I thought this book was :) NICE!

International Giveaways!

Going from book blog to book blog (yes, if you haven't guessed from my previous posts, I love books) I started to see that many people were having things called "giveaways". Reading more about this I learned that this people were actually GIVING books away FOR FREE! I immediately wanted to participate, but, living outside the US and Canada, made it impossible for me to be elegible. So I asked if anyone knew about giveaways outside these countries, and a couple of people replied to my post.

I have entered I Heart Monster's
Enchanted, Inc and Dead is the New Black giveaways, go over to her blog and check them out.

Another giveaway I entered is
I HAVE BEEN NATURALIZED, at Reading Extravaganza's blog.
She's hosting this giveaway to celebrate
becoming a citizen of the United States of America.
I'm participating to win
Elijah's Coin. Follow the link above to go to her blog and read the review on this book. This is not the only book in this giveaway, there are 5 in total, from which you can choose the one you'd like to win.

And the last giveaway I entered, that is international,
is Nicole's Conscience Point Giveaway.
"Conscience Point is an ambitious novel in a lot of ways. The language is rich and dense while being haunting and beautiful."
This is part of Nicole's review of this book, you'll find the entire review on her blog (click link above). There's just something with the word haunting that makes me imagine all sorts of things. And I cannot wait to find what those things are!

So, if you like books like me, and you'd like to have some for free, I suggest you go to these blogs (they are awesome, btw) and check out the different giveaway options. If you live in the US or Canada, you'll find more giveaways available to you.

thanks for reading,

The Matress

yesterday i went to flor's. i've been wanting to write sth since last weekend, but i couldn't come up with anything. so i asked lin and flor, to give me ideas.
flor wanted the girl's name to be Sophie, lin, the guy to be Ethan.
the girl had to die, to which i had no objections, seeing that that's the kind of stories i like to write. tragic stories. flor still wanted a happy ending. and she wanted the story to be non-fiction, but i guess there's a little bit of that here. oh, and no vampires she said. lol ;)
here's my story, i really like it, and i'd like to know what you all think about it.

The Matress

My head is spinning. I feel like I've been kicked by a horse. Twice. I don't remember where I am, or how I got here. Everything's so bright, it hurts my eyes. I close them, but the light spots are still there. It's hard for me to breathe, so I inhale softly, trying to soothe my breathing. I'm lying down, on something soft, but I have no idea what it could be; light's too bright, I can't see a thing. So I try to listen to my surroundings. Silence. I can't hear anything. I don't feel anyone.
My body aches. I think.
I don't remember what happened last night. Just that I was in a bar. And that the girl with the red dress was staring at me again. She looked like someone I used to know, that's why I invited her for a drink once. I think she really likes me. But I wasn't looking for anything at that moment. I don't think I'll be looking for anything or anyone for a while.
I remember her face. And I get angry at myself for starting to lose it. But the girl's still there, and she's smiling at me. I don't return the smile, so she drops her eyes, ashamed.

I remember the time when I was with her. Her smile was the prettiest smile in the universe. But it's slipping away from my memories. When was the last time I saw her? I don't know anymore. All of our pictures were lost in the journey. I had one in my wallet, but a drunk man stole it from me. There were just twenty dollars in it. And the picture. That hurt.
I don't remember clearly what happened to her, just that one day she was gone. And I was angry at her, for not having told me she was leaving. And at myself, for not having known what she was thinking, to be able to stop her.

The matress I'm lying over –I think it's a matress, it feels like it's one- sinks under the pressure of a new being.
Vainilla. And cherries.
Sophie,” the word comes out of my mouth in an exhale.
“Here I am, Ethan,” she says. “Open your eyes, the light from the headlights won't bother you anymore.”
Sophie was right, the light was gone. But I opened my eyes too quickly, they were burning. The memories just kept slipping away.
Her eyes. Her most beautiful caracteristic. They were green like marijuana, she said. The memories were starting to come back. And her smile was just like I remembered it. It had been to long since I had last seen her.
“When did you come back?" I asked her.
“I didn't come back, you found me.”
I had been thinking about her last night, maybe in my state of intoxication I had found her somehow.
“How long ago did I get here?
How did I get here?” The answers to these questions kept avoiding me.
“You didn't get here yet. But don't worry about that now. We have some more time.”
I didn't understand what she'd meant, but I didn't ask her anything else either. The only thing that mattered to me was that I could finally see her. And talk to her. And...
I reached out with my hand and brushed it against hers. Her skin was warm and soft. Sophie closed her eyes to my touch. Her breathing was becoming heavier, as I traced her curves with my fingers. My heart exploded with happiness, and the lust lost in the way had learned to use its map to get back to me again.
I quickly got up, sitting beside her. I brought her closer to me, and she held me with her doll-like arms. I kissed her neck, just below her ear. I could feel her heart beating just as fast as mine. She let out a sigh of desire. She she kissed me under my chin.
With one of my hands I brushed one of her breasts.
And we lost ourselves in one another. Once more.

Lying on the matress. We stared at the ceiling that wasn't there. No walls no windows no doors. Nothing. The matress, white, was still there.
White. The lights. They were shinning with more intensity than before, I rolled over, my face over the matress.
“What is this place? Where are we?”
“We're everywhere, and nowhere,” she simply responded.
My heart was starting to fail. I felt an itch, the echo of something more. I brought my hand up to my chest, the itch persisted.
Again, higher,” the voice came from not so far away.
Fearing that the intensity of the light could hurt my eyes, I asked Sophie where that sound came from.
“You can look, the light cannot hurt you.”
Sophie had never lied to me before, but after having gone like that, I wasn't sure if I should believe her or not. I decided to listen to her, just so I wouldn't offend her. Slowly, I rolled back over myself, on the matress, and I opened my eyes. As usual, she was right.
And my heart was aching.
“Why did you leave without letting my know? Why didn't you call me, or leave me a note?”
Sophie had always been a very forward woman, so she didn't look down when she answered me.
“I didn't know what to say to you, nor how you were going to take it. I knew I had to leave and that you would try to stop me. Even if I had explained to you the reasons for my departure a thousand times, you wouldn't have understood me. And don't tell me it's not like that,” she added when she saw me open my mouth to reply, "because I know you. I had to leave on my own, without anyone trying to persuade me to stay.” She frowned, getting upset. “I couldn't take it anymore, E. Do you get it? It was too much.”
Of course I understood her. I felt the same thing.
I nodded, and she replied by doing the same gesture.
“You still don't know where we are, do you?” she asked me.
I shook my head in denial, from one side to the other.
“We're in the hospital, see?” she said pointing to a group of doctors that surrounded a patient. They looked pretty busy, trying to save that stranger. The man in question was really bruised, covered in blood.
“What happened to him?” I asked Sophie.
“A driver didn't see him, and he ran over him.” The tone of her voice sounded just like if I had just asked her the time.
“Do you know what you're going to do?” she asked.
“With what?”
“Look at that man a little closer. Doesn't he look familiar?”
He did look like someone I knew, I just couldn't remember from where.
“It's you, E. That man is you."
I leaned over the doctor that was bent over the man.
“Hmm, yeah. I think I knew it from a start. It doesn't surprise me."
“Now you remember what happened last night?” Sophie asked me.
“Yes, I remember now,” I breathed. The memories were coming back to me in a batallion, fighting amongst themselves. Wanting to come first. My mind spun again.
The lights from the hospital -or the headlights?- blinded me. Everything my body received, I could feel too.
“There's still a connection between both. It's up to you to go back or not,” she told me, looking at me in the eyes.
“What would happen if I chose to stay?”
“If that were your choice, you'd be with me. And this time I wouldn't go anywhere. I'm right where I wanna be.” She smiled at me. Inviting me to stay.
The doctors were still fighting to rescue the ruins of my body. Suddenly, there was nothing more to be done.
I turned to look at Sophie, who smiled, guessing my decision.
She took me by the hand, and together we flew away.
Far away.

Reading Challenges

So, today I found some reading challenges that I liked, they are:

9 for 09: I'm joining in the "Used"(Eva Luna, just bought it at a used books store) and "Cover" (haven't found this one yet) categories.

Read Your Name:
E: Eva Luna, by Isabel Allende.
L: Let's all kill Constance, by Ray Bradbury.
L: Las Crónicas de Narnia: Las Travesías del Viajero del Alba (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader), by C. S. Lewis.
A: Antes del Fin, by Ernesto Sabato.

Spring Reading Thing:
I'm reading the ones above, plus, I need to finish
Hamlet! (5 books).

Once Upon A Time III: I'm choosing to start by reading a Fairy Tale Book,
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

So, overall, I've got 5 books to read by June 20th (some of them by then, others by whenever).
I will keep you updated on my Challenges, and if I have the time, since I have other books to read and I have to study -even if I don't want to-, I may join other Challenges that appeal to me.

Let the reading begin!

Teenage Love Affair

He said "I'll be here Tomorrow." He said "I'm With You." I think in his mind we're Just Friends.
Do you know
How Does it Feel to Wake Up Alone? I wish you could Feel This. You Had Me feeling Butterflies, but now I've realized that Love is a Losing Game. The Thing About Love, is that seldom it is returned. You feel you've found your True Love, and it's a Good Day when that happens. No One can bring you down when he tells you you're Irreplaceable. But it turns out he was just a Beautiful Liar. And now your Lifeline's been cut, 'cause you've left him hundreds of messages saying Call Me When You Get This, and he never did. But Seasons Change, and The Sun Will Shine Again. It's not The End Of The World. Before it was "Me & Mr. Jones", now it's just "Valerie".
Tears Dry on Their Own, and now I can Breathe again. Now I know what they mean when they say "Be Yourself", that means I'm Complicated, Anything But Ordinary, and there are Things I'll Never Say. But I like me, and you should Love Me For Me.
That boy who stole my
Innocence and made me feel Unwanted, was nothing but Trouble.

Today's
Saturday and I Feel Fine, 'cause I've learned to Be Without You.
I'm not
Looking For Love right now, the Butterflies and Hurricanes have come and gone. The Ghost of You has faded. I Don't Look Back In Anger, be sure of that. Sunday Morning. Here We Go Again. I Hate this & I'll Love You, I know it. But you are So Beautiful. You told me "I think I've found Somebody to Love". But I'm thinking, "he's Here Today, Gone Tomorrow!". You say "Baby, I Love You". "But I Don't Feel Like Dancing", I tease him. "Doesn't matter" he says, "just Give Me Heart, I will give you Wreckless Love".

This has been a Monday Mission. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write a post filled with Song Titles. To do so, Click here to go to Painted Maypole's blog.
