WoW #20: Article 5 and Incarnate

Expected publication date: January 1st, 2012

Publisher: HarperCollins Children's Books

Summary from Goodreads:
NEWSOUL
Ana is new. For thousands of years in Range, a million souls have been reincarnated over and over, keeping their memories and experiences from previous lifetimes. When Ana was born, another soul vanished, and no one knows why.

NOSOUL
Even Ana’s own mother thinks she’s a nosoul, an omen of worse things to come, and has kept her away from society. To escape her seclusion and learn whether she’ll be reincarnated, Ana travels to the city of Heart, but its citizens are suspicious and afraid of what her presence means. When dragons and sylph attack the city, is Ana to blame?

HEART
Sam believes Ana’s new soul is good and worthwhile. When he stands up for her, their relationship blooms. But can he love someone who may live only once, and will Ana’s enemies—human and creature alike—let them be together? Ana needs to uncover the mistake that gave her someone else’s life, but will her quest threaten the peace of Heart and destroy the promise of reincarnation for all?

Jodi Meadows expertly weaves soul-deep romance, fantasy, and danger into an extraordinary tale of new life.
What an interesting summary! And that cover is gor-geous! Can't wait!

Expected publication date: February 12th, 2012

Publisher: Tor Teen

Summary from Goodreads:
New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC have been abandoned.

The Bill of Rights has been revoked, and replaced with the Moral Statutes.

There are no more police — instead, there are soldiers. There are no more fines for bad behavior — instead, there are arrests, trials, and maybe worse. People who get arrested don’t usually come back.

17-year-old Ember Miller is old enough to remember that things weren’t always this way. Living with her rebellious single mother, it’s hard to forget that people weren’t always arrested for reading the wrong books or staying out after dark. That life in the United States used to be different.

In the three years since the war ended, Ember has perfected the art of keeping a low profile. She knows how to get the things she needs, like food stamps and hand-me-down clothes, and how to pass the random home inspections by the Federal Bureau of Reformation. Her life is as close to peaceful as circumstances allow. That is, until her mother is arrested for noncompliance with Article 5 of the Moral Statutes. And what’s worse, one of the arresting officers is none other than Chase Jennings…the only boy Ember has ever loved.
YAY! I love me dystopian novels! This one's got a really catching summary too! And a beautiful cover. Looking forward to this one :)
And you, what are you waiting for this week?

If I Stay (If I Stay, #1), by Gayle Forman

If I Stay (If I Stay, #1), by Gayle Forman on Goodreads

Release Date: (Paperback) April 6th, 2010.
Age Group: Young Adult
Publisher: Speak
Overall: 3 Monkeys
Categories: Romance, Drama, Contemporary
Challenge: 100 Books in a Year, 2011 Debut Author Challenge*
Read in June 2011

Summary from Goodreads:
In the blink of an eye everything changes. Seventeen-year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall what happened afterwards, watching her own damaged body being taken from the wreck. Little by little she struggles to put together the pieces - to figure out what she has lost, what she has left, and the very difficult choice she must make. Heart-wrenchingly beautiful, Mia's story will stay with you for a long, long time.

My Opinion:
I was really hoping to super-love this book, as everyone kept saying how much they'd cried with it and how much they loved it (I love to cry when reading a good book). But, sadly for me, this book didn't quite reach me as it did others.

I found the storyline (almost-dead girl's spirit -?- walking down the hospital's halls, trying to figure out if living is worth it or if she should just let go) to be already used. Maybe it was because I'd recently watched a 2007 film (Awake) with Hayden Christensen, where his character is almost in the same place as Mia is. Only, Mia's story is much more dramatic, as opposed to Clay's (Hayden Christensen) where he does want to live but finds that people are trying to prevent that from happening.

Anyway, it wasn't the story that gripped me, but the flashbacks that appear throughout the book, that tore at my heart.

Cover of my edition.
When Mia tells us about her family (Isn't it nice to read about a whole family for a change? Well, until the accident, of course.), about how she and Adam became boyfriend and girlfriend, and about her best friend Kim and her many eccentricities, that was when I loved the book.
Because those insights were completely functional to the plot, to make us feel things for the characters. And boy, did I feel them.

In the end, I think Mia made a good choice. But I didn't like the way the book ended, it was way too open for an ending. I would have liked to see something else.

We'll see how I like Where She Went, book 2! Apparently, it's told from Adam's POV. Oh, how I love a boy's POV in a book... *sigh*

*This book was released a couple of months ago in Argentina, making it a Debut in my country.

First PANDEMONIUM Summary is Revealed!

Bonnie just shared with us the new PANDEMONIUM (apparently now Mar 2012) summary on Deliriously Falling!
Lauren Oliver captivated readers with DELIRIUM, the first book in a thrilling dystopian trilogy in which Lena Haloway dared to fall in love with Alex and escape the cure, the government-mandated procedure that renders a person immune to the disease of love. Lena and Alex staked their lives on leaving their oppressive society, but only Lena broke free...

So excited!!!

Cover (Un)Love: Devoted (Elixir, #2), by Hilary Duff, Elise Allen

Man, that is one ugly cover (no offence to the designer).

Nothing like Elixir's -which I loved-, and it just looks like something we see all the time, the girl-with-no-eyes.

I'm disappointed, you guys. I loved the first book, and I'm really excited about this one, but that cover... I just hope they change it for the paperback release.

What do you think? Have you read Elixir?
Read my review of Elixir here.

I don't even know if the word unlove exists, I'm pretty sure I just made it up, but you get my point.

Resister Report: Anna and the French Kiss, by Stephanie Perkins: Labeled DANGEROUS

We have received word that resister Stephanie Perkins is spreading propaganda against the cure. She is calling it ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS and trying to tell teenagers that falling in love is a good thing, treating the warning signs of the deliria as a necessary building block to true love. The tale stirs up too many emotions and will have law-abiding citizens second-guessing the cure. This blatant attack on our regime will not be tolerated.
Read the full Report here. Destroy after reading it.

Deliriously Falling has succesfully infiltrated the Amor Deliria Nervosa Division! We now have access to Top Secret Reports that will help us in our quest to destroy the tyranny of the Government now ruling us.

JKR announces POTTERMORE!

I've been counting down the days and hours until this moment, and now we finally know what it is!

Stop with the guessing! Now we know that Pottermore is a reading site!
Pottermore is an exciting new website from J.K. Rowling that can be enjoyed alongside the Harry Potter books. You can explore the stories like never before and discover exclusive new writing from the author. It is FREE to join and use, and is designed to be safe for people of all ages. [from Pottermore]
We'll be able to re-read the series and get new and exclusive data from the author. From what I gather, it'll be a sort of interactive site, where we'll read and share thoughts, and build the story as we want it.

"Follow the owl," Jo says, so I'm thinking HP-related sites will have owls scattered around them come October, and they'll lead us to new experiences from Pottermore.

We've waited for this announcement, but now we'll have to wait until October, too. Wow, it can't come fast enough.

The question of the moment: What IS Pottermore?

HP diehard fans -like myself- have been wondering this for days now. What exactly IS Pottermore? I'll let youtuber ratsrox explain what the rumours are so far:

In the video, the countdown is 6 days, etc., etc. Right now, that countdown is set to 4 days, 20 hours, etc., etc.

If you go to the pottermore.com page and click on the owl, like is explained on the video, you'll be taken to a YT page like this one above. There in the dooblie-doo, it says, "The owls are gathering... find out why soon."

So, we can only guess and (impatiently) wait, until JKR announces something that is sure to change us fans's lives, and I'm not exagerating.

You can follow Pottermore on Facebook and visit its website.

Are you a HP diehard fan like me? Tell me!

Happy birthday Sarah Dessen!

I'm taking some time off studying and reading to wish a very happy birthday to author Sarah Dessen!

Sarah is considered Contemporary YA royalty, and it shames me to say that I've only read one of her many books, Someone Like You, but I'd certainly like to read more.

So, happy birthday Sarah! Have a great day!
